DOUBLE ARROW LODGE

TIMELESS WESTERN HOSPITALITY IN THE HEART OF MONTANA
DOUBLE ARROW LODGE
TIMELESS WESTERN HOSPITALITY IN THE HEART OF MONTANA
THE HISTORIC DOUBLE ARROW LODGE WAS LISTED ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES IN 2014
The Double Arrow Lodge is the historic heart of the ranch — a beautifully preserved 1929 log structure that has welcomed guests for nearly a century. Originally built as the centerpiece of Montana’s first commercial dude ranch, the Lodge today remains a beloved gathering place and an icon of rustic elegance. Massive hand-hewn logs, a towering stone fireplace, vintage photographs, and antique furnishings evoke a sense of stepping back in time — without ever sacrificing comfort.

Over the decades, the Lodge has evolved to offer the warmth of an old-world mountain retreat with the services and sophistication of a modern resort. Whether you’re savoring a fireside cocktail in the Great Room, checking in for your wilderness adventure, or simply relaxing on the porch as deer wander nearby, the Lodge offers a setting that is equal parts nostalgic and luxurious.
THE LODGE: A STORIED LEGACY
There’s something almost sacred about walking into the Double Arrow Lodge.
There’s something almost sacred about walking into the Double Arrow Lodge. You feel it immediately — the hush of pine-scented air, the weight of time in the hand-hewn beams, the warmth of the stone hearth that has crackled through nearly a century of Montana winters. Built in 1929, the Lodge was the centerpiece of one of the first commercial dude ranches in Montana. At a time when travel was a privilege and the West still whispered tales of untamed frontiers, guests from around the country would journey here for the adventure of a lifetime — to ride horses beneath the Swan Range, share stories under the stars, and sleep under log rafters in rooms lit by kerosene lanterns.
EXTERIOR OF THE DOUBLE ARROW LODGE AT DOUBLE ARROW RANCH
The vision belonged to Jan Boissevain, a Dutch immigrant and horseman who fell in love with the wild landscape of Seeley Lake. With a deep appreciation for western traditions and a passion for hospitality, he and his partner built not just a lodge, but a way of life. That spirit — welcoming, rugged, elegant in its simplicity — still pulses through every log and floorboard.

Over the decades, the Lodge has seen it all: from elegant barn dances in the 1930s to wilderness pack trips in the ‘60s, and from community weddings to corporate retreats. Families have returned here for generations, watching their children and grandchildren grow up under the same pitched roof. Through changing times and ownership, the Lodge has remained the soul of the ranch — a beacon of Montana’s hospitality tradition, and a living reminder that true experiences never go out of style.

LODGING OPTIONS AT THE RANCH
More Than a Place to Stay
A GUEST LODGE AT DOUBLE ARROW RANCH
Staying at the Double Arrow Ranch isn’t just about a room — it’s about immersion in a tradition of mountain life that’s uniquely Montanan. When you book a night in one of our lodge rooms or rustic cabins, you’re becoming part of a rhythm that’s been playing here for generations. Mornings begin with the smell of fresh coffee from the lodge kitchen and the sound of birdsong in the pines. Guests wander down to breakfast in flannel and fleece, swapping stories with strangers who feel like old friends. The day is yours to shape — a round of golf, a trail ride, a kayak across Seeley Lake, or simply an afternoon lost in a book by the fire.
In the evenings, laughter rises from the bar as guests gather for cocktails and conversation. The stone fireplace glows, casting long shadows on the knotty pine walls, and the smell of huckleberry compote or cedar-planked trout drifts in from the restaurant. Later, you’ll retreat to your cabin or suite, where silence reigns and the stars blaze overhead like they haven’t in decades where you’re from.

For many, the Lodge becomes more than a destination — it becomes a tradition. A touchstone. A place where families return year after year, where couples reconnect without distraction, where friends mark milestones, and where solo travelers find peace. Some guests have left with a bottle of wine and a journal full of reflections. Others have left with a property deed and a new address — unable to resist the call of life lived a little deeper, a little slower, and a whole lot freer. Because the truth is, the Double Arrow Lodge isn’t just a beautiful old building. It’s a feeling. One that stays with you long after you’ve unpacked your bags back home.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a basecamp for outdoor adventure, the Double Arrow Lodge offers a range of inviting accommodations, all just steps from the main lodge.
